• St Andrews Cathedral
  Singapore's Gothic Anglican cathedral was built between 1856 - 1861 by Indian convict laborers and was part of Sir Stamford Raffle's plan to create a civic and cultural heart for Singapore.   Just on the next block from Swissôtel The Stamford, Singapore, tourists can now savor a taste of art, culture and new-vogue shopping and dining at one convenient destination, CHIJMES - Singapore's new center of style. Formerly the Convent of the Holy Infant Jesus, CHIJMES has undergone a three-year restoration program. Food and entertainment outlets occupy 70 per cent of the commercial space available on the 4-acre site in Victoria Street. A sunken forecourt has been constructed in the center of the building to house specialty food and beverage outlets, not unlike what you would expect to find in Germany or France. CHIJMES' combination of history and new style retail and dining outlets, makes the center a popular stop for all tours.
